I collaborated with George Schon to explore antiques and aesthetics of antiquity. The project saw us venturing into a variety of routes, all which was a means of testing the nature of time and stories, two essential components of an antique.
We carried out dozens of experiments and tasks, of which one involved making a poster using a bacteria growing substrate to demonstrate the millions of reactions taking place at any given time as things constantly change.
Another task saw us getting people to make up the history and story for an item; switching the role from audience to a story teller. This idea was further investigated as we went to a car boot sale, purchased items from the sale and re-sold them adding the stories people had produced to the items for a higher value. This was then followed by a final act of re-writing the stores people had suggested, which we then gave away back to people in the form of limited edition books.
The final outcome for the project was a handmade book which chronicled the story and process of our various projects and outcomes.
